Tech Afrique's Black to Dance is Back,  Sunday August 29th in Brooklyn NY.  Join us as we spin the hottest Afrohouse, Techno, Amapiano tunes.

Eli Fola

Eli Fola is a Nigerian born, New York and Tulum based multi disciplinary sound artist, saxophonist, DJ, and producer. He is the creator and pioneer of the live-hybrid set “Yoruba Tech Soul”— a fusion of AfroHouse, Techno, Jazz, and Classical music. He is often regarded as a saxophone genius and branded with the visual art world due to his powerful imagery that showcases Afrohouse and spirituality in a modern context. Eli Fola’s first introduction to House music and Techno was his discovery of Osunlade and Jeff Mills music. He has performed alongside artists such as Black Coffee, Pablo Fierro, and Audiofly. He has also been sought after by Grammy winning producer Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys for private event at their home as well as their No Commission event in Miami where he got to perform alongside artists such as ASAP ROCKY, Lil Wayne and 2 Chains. Has a Film score composer he has been commissioned to work on projects for Vogue Italia and Free The Works including  collaborations with brands such as  Soho House, Bacardi, ArtNews, and ArtBasel. Eli Fola was a 2017 Ted Speaker and performer. His Ted talk focused on how music can be used to reconcile and highlight differences in culture and identity.

AQ 

Kadija Bah, also known as DJ AQ, is a Harlem native of South African and Guinean descent. Kadija has a long-standing love for entertainment, as she began dancing and playing the violin at the age of seven. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism at Buffalo State before returning to New York City to realize her ambitions as a DJ and professional dancer. An abbreviation of “Afrikan Queen”, her name encapsulates her specialization in the sounds of the African diaspora; afro-house, afrobeat, gqom and amapiano.

Jadalareign 

Jada Lorraine, commonly known by her moniker JADALAREIGN, is a Brooklyn-based international DJ, and multidisciplinary artist. JADA is known for her vast knowledge of the musical spectrum, and her eclectic selections of high energy dance music. She marries a variety of rhythms and genres to send powerful vibrations through any dance-floor. In addition to collaborating with notable brands like Boiler Room, Vice, Tidal, RCA Records, Foot Locker, Melody Ehsani, NTS Radio, Rinse FM, Maybelline, Nike, Everyday People, Sneakers N Stuff, Adidas, Soul in the Horn, Papi Juice, Fania Records, Boom Bushwick, 3rd Shift, and A Club Called Rhonda, JADA, along with Niara Sterling, curates a monthly party called PERK, a haven for individuality, movement and expression with a sexy dance-focused soundtrack and live instrumentation. JADA is the senior curator for Halfmoon BK, a black-owned grassroots online radio platform, and the former social media manager for DW Artists, the artist agency branch of Discwoman. She has been featured in Vibe Magazine and was recognized by Revolt for her contributions to DJ culture. Most recently, JADA founded and produces a workshop and discussion series titled SKILLSHARE, centering womyn, non-binary and LBGTQ people of color, with topics including DJing, audio production, event production, community building and professional development.
